[NHM] New Haven Music

WNHU Benefit @ Cafe Nine – March 7th

88.7FM WNHU is the University of New Haven‘s non-commercial, official FCC-licensed FM radio station broadcasting live 24/7 from the basement of UNH’s Maxcy Hall. Its also one kick ass radio station featuring a variety of programming ranging from local music to rockabilly to polka (if that’s your thing) and back. Daily operations are maintained by a departmental general manager, student station managers and directors, and a staff comprised of undergraduate students, graduate students, community volunteers, and faculty members. WNHU’s staff of DJs and radio personalities are comprised of both undergraduate students and community members. At 1,700 watts, WNHU has one of the largest broadcasting areas of any University based radio station in the state (over 30 miles or more in all directions). Although primarily funded by the University of New Haven, the radio station has in recent economic times relied more heavily on donations and fundraisers to supplement its dwindling University support. One such fundraiser will be held this Sunday, March 7th at New Haven’s Cafe Nine. This afternoon benefit show will feature live bands, appearances by some of the station’s DJs, raffles and more. 100% of the money raised from the show will go directly to the station itself, helping to fund your favorite WNHU programming and beyond. Come show your support for New Haven”s (and one of Connecticut’s) best college radio stations!
