‘Songs From the Sofa’ is a long-running live music series hosted by singer/songwriter and all-around swell guy Frank Critelli. Held on the last Friday of each month, ‘Songs From the Sofa’ places some of the area’s best songwriters into Books & Co.’s intimate coffeehouse style setting. Although the series usually focuses on solo performers, this month’s installment, occurring this Friday, February 26th, features a full band performance by the newly reunited The Name. After a long hiatus, The Name made their first performance in almost 15 years last month at the Space open mic. The trio may be best remembered for their performances at local haunts The Moon, The Daily Cafe and the Tune Inn, all now long gone. According to the band’s Myspace page, they will be entering the studio with producer and ‘spritual leader’ Mike Arafeh (known for his work with the Butterflies of Love, the Frills, the Two Virgins and many others) later this month.
Joining the Name will be Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Pat Hull. Hull is currently on tour in support of his third solo album entitled, you guessed it, ‘Pat Hull’. When not touring Hull is reportedly finishing work on his fourth solo album ‘Fables Names’ due out this summer. You can catch further CT. dates from Hull at the Funky Monkey Cafe in Cheshire on Feb. 27th and at Cousin Larry’s (Danbury) in April.
